Tulare County Amateur Radio Club Meeting -- January 17, 2013 Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 19:14 by Ray (W6RAY)
Introductions: The following people were in attendance at this meeting:
Kevin -- KC6IED -- Visalia
Victor -- KJ6HBG -- Visalia
Dale -- KF6TOC -- Visalia
Ray -- W6RAY -- Visalia
Larry -- KF6JBG -- Visalia

Larry (KF6JBG) -- (Activities) indicated that he has some ideas for
after the monthly meetings including: installation of mobile radios, construction of fox hunt activities, and ham radio classes (so far only
two people are interested and have contacted Larry)

Richard (KF6QJL) -- (Activities) wants to do a presentation on antenna propagation, theory, etc.

Scott (KJ6AZR) -- (Treasurer) indicated that there are 13 paid members (including Kevin -- KC6IED & Christina -- KJ6OUC paid at the January
2013 meeting), the December balances are: Checking $2502.91, Savings
$5876.71, total $8379.62. Scott indicated that the club needed to vote
on paying $320 for annual insurance for the club. He also informed the
club that the club will have a debit card to be available to pay for
club business. The card is in Scott's (KJ6AZR) name. The card will
also allow membership to be paid via PayPal. A motion to accept the
treasurer report was made by Richard (KF6QJL). The motion was seconded
by Felix (N6VQL). The motion carried. Richard (KF6QJL) made a motion to
pay the insurance bill. Victor (KJ6HBG) seconded. The motion carried.

John (KJ6HBF) -- (Activities) displayed a halo antenna. He indicated
that he was having issues with starting the newsline and thought that
his halo antenna would help. John also suggested that a rotating
schedule for net control be set up.

Kevin (KC6IED) -- recommending making a motion to accept the January
2013 Board Meeting minutes to be accepted with the change from weekly
meetings to monthly meetings. Richard (KF6QJL) motioned to accept the
minutes. Scott (KJ6AZR) seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Kevin also mentioned the Vietnam Veterans Bicycle Ride coming up in
March 2013 and the request for the club to participate in the
communications piece.

Victor (KJ6HBG) -- Victor suggested that the club members bring their HF
gear (Radio, power, antenna, etc.) to the February 2013 club meeting.
He recommended that this gear also be brought to Field Day so that each
member can run their own station and spend more time during Field Day
making contacts. Victor also suggested that testing for upgrading
licenses occur on a day other than Field Day.

Scott (KJ6AZR) -- indicated that the club's finances are slowly
dwindling and wanted to know what kinds of fundraisers that the club can do.

Ray (W6RAY) -- Ray asked Victor if he knew whether Patty was working on
the 501 (c)3 for the club. Victor indicated that it is pending.

Larry (KF6JBG) -- Larry indicated that he could not fix the camera from
the repeater site. He indicated that the electronics are gone. It is a rotating web cam. The club needs a new one.

Ray -- W6RAY -- reminded the club members that the board meeting will
continue at Carrows the first Thursday of the month at 6:30pm. He also indicated that this year's dues are due.

Larry (KF6JBG) -- indicated that the antenna is ready to be installed at
the Salvation Army in Visalia, he is just waiting for a good time to
complete the installation.

Victor (KF6JBG) -- Victor suggested as a fundraiser that the club
members could sell items on E-Bay and donate the proceeds to the club.
He also suggested that members could donate money during the monthly
meetings.

Felix (N6VQL) -- suggested having a raffle. He also indicated that he
put up his own repeater.

Richard (KF6QJL) -- made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Felix (N6VQL) seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 19:52
